"AI is a little bit different, because it does have a material base—you’ve got to build these big data centers—but it is going to have, I think, a huge effect on income and wealth, because the rewards for building these systems are going to go to the people at the top of the hierarchies of the companies that build them, and it’s going to take away the livelihoods of people in the middle—maybe not everybody at the bottom, because you’re still going to need plumbers and electricians, but all of the people sitting behind computers are going to see their livelihoods disappear."
