A flight school owner has tragically died while flying his single-engine plane before it crashed in DeKalb County, Alabama.
Douglas Emge, 62, was killed in a small aircraft crash behind a water tank near his hometown of Whiton.
DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency Director Michael Posey confirmed the identity of the pilot and that he was the only person on board.
A Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokesperson said a 'Van's RV-4 aircraft crashed in a field near Albertville, Alabama, around 6.50 am."
