"Brandon Purcell, an advocacy manager with the Canadian Cancer Society, said in an interview that the outdated recommendation continues to have real-world consequences, pointing to the provinces of Ontario and British Columbia who do not cover the cost of PSA testing for asymptomatic men with a physician referral.
He’s hopeful that new guidance would influence both provinces to update their policies, helping to ensure that the most at-risk groups can access testing.
“The truth with all cancers is that the earlier you find it, the more likely survival is,” said Mr. Purcell."
