Alexis Crespo, 32, was charged with kidnapping in Tennessee after allegedly attempting to abduct a three-year-old boy from a playground on October 19. Police were called to the scene near Middlebrook Pike and arrested Crespo shortly afterward.
According to police reports reviewed by WVLT 8, Crespo approached the child's mother at the playground, located close to the Big Oak Apartment complex, and asked to borrow her phone. When the mother tried to retrieve her phone back from Crespo, she reportedly refused and ran away.
Later, Crespo returned to the playground and picked up the boy, refusing to let him go when confronted by his mother. The child's mother then dragged Crespo to the apartment office where police arrived and arrested her.
Crespo’s actions were allegedly an attempt to take the child from the playground with no legitimate reason given for doing so other than initially requesting a phone.
