A 24-year-old Indian-origin man named Jaskeerat Singh Naukhria was killed in a head-on collision on the Coquihalla Highway (Highway 5) near Merritt, British Columbia, Canada, on Saturday. Three others traveling with him were injured, two critically. Witnesses reported that Naukhria, who had recently received approval for permanent residency, was driving a white Toyota RAV4 when it collided with a black Toyota Tacoma that entered the highway from the wrong direction near Lac Le Jeune. The pickup truck’s 22-year-old driver, who is from Coldwater, sustained minor injuries and has been detained on suspicion of impaired driving. All four people in Naukhria's vehicle were between 24 and 38 years old. Police received multiple complaints about a southbound vehicle traveling in the northbound lanes prior to the crash.
