The Stunned Mullet, a 20-year-old Sydney seafood restaurant, has been featured in the latest edition of The Good Food Guide, surprising many with its sophisticated menu and wine list despite its whimsical name. Instead of battered mullet, patrons can enjoy high-end dishes like Glacier 51 toothfish in shiitake broth or fried king prawns on roasted oat flakes. While the restaurant's culinary offerings range widely from quail to wagyu steaks, some critics note that the food occasionally prioritizes technique over flavor. However, its extensive wine program, which spans more than 60 pages curated by owner Lou Perri, and warm service help compensate for this. The Stunned Mullet has also recently launched an online wine store offering verticals of iconic producers.
