A missing California DoorDash driver, Javier Becerril Jr., 42, from Hollister, was found dead on July 9 in the trunk of a Tesla sedan on State Route 152 in Merced County. After a three-month investigation, Manuel Salceda, 39, from Turlock, is now facing murder charges. Investigators used surveillance footage and physical evidence to track down Salceda, who allegedly operated under multiple identities to evade law enforcement. On October 11, authorities located Salceda near Dublin before arresting him at a gas station in Woodland without incident. The CHP’s Central Division Major Crimes Unit led the investigation that uncovered evidence indicating Becerril had been beaten before his body was stashed in the car trunk.
