The Ukrainian military has successfully conducted what it claims is the world's first drone airlift of a wounded soldier from the front line. The 92nd Assault Brigade used a heavy-lift hexacopter to evacuate Konstantyn Vlasenko, who had been stranded for over 491 days due to dense minefields and heavy Russian drone activity. Vlasenko, unable to walk after sustaining blast wounds, reportedly amputated his frostbitten legs himself while waiting for rescue. The drone mission was carried out under challenging conditions and is seen as a potential game-changer in battlefield medical evacuations.
