A woman in her 50s died shortly after being issued a driving ban following a roadside breath test in Western Australia. The incident occurred on Monday evening when Geraldton Police stopped her on Brand Highway in Mount Tarcoola, about 400 kilometres north of Perth. Officers conducted a random breath test and then provided the woman with a driving prohibition notice before releasing her from custody. Shortly after, she experienced a medical issue and became unresponsive despite police offering assistance and contacting emergency services. She was taken to Geraldton Regional Hospital but later declared dead. WA Police's Internal Affairs Unit is investigating the death in police presence, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
