Mel Brooks, at 100 years old, insisted on filming his scenes first for the upcoming "Spaceballs: The New One" sequel due to his advanced age. Actress Daphne Zuniga, who will reprise her role as Princess Vespa in the film, revealed this during a panel discussion at 90s Con. Brooks is set to reprise his iconic role as alien character Yogurt in the sequel, which was written and directed by him for the original 1987 movie. The new cast includes actors like Keke Palmer, Josh Gad, and Lewis Pullman. Filming of the scenes featuring Brooks was completed ahead of the official start of production at his insistence. The highly anticipated film is expected to be released on April 23, 2027.
