On October 18, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, a safety for the Buffalo Bills, was ejected from an NFL game against the Las Vegas Raiders after spitting at Brock Bowers of the Raiders during halftime. The incident occurred when Gardner-Johnson approached Raiders players and exchanged words before spitting towards them, resulting in a 14-yard penalty for his team. Following this, on October 19, the NFL suspended Gardner-Johnson for one game without pay, citing Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, which prohibits acts contrary to sportsmanship principles. Since Buffalo is on bye next week, the suspension will begin on October 26 and end on November 2 when they play against the Baltimore Ravens. Gardner-Johnson has since apologized both publicly and privately for his actions.
