On Sunday morning, in west Edmonton near Donsdale Drive and 45th Avenue, a woman called police after her infant was reportedly shot. Upon arrival, officers found a 36-year-old man armed with a firearm who opened the front door but did not comply with verbal commands from three officers, leading to them discharging their firearms. The man died at the scene, while an infant and two women sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital. No police officers were injured. ASIRT (Alberta Serious Incident Response Team) was notified to investigate this fatal incident involving serious injury or death to determine if there was any officer misconduct.
