A major fire broke out on Saturday at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in east-central Alberta, spreading rapidly due to strong winds. The incident led to the deaths of four service members and left dozens injured, including at least 19 people in critical condition. Sgt Morgan Wong, Pvt Shaun Farrell, Pvt Aidan Goulding, and Pvt Hayden Lykkemark were identified as those killed. Prime Minister Mark Carney described it as "one of the worst tragedies for the forces on Canadian soil in peacetime." Emergency responders from multiple agencies, including Acute Care Alberta’s Emergency Health Services, have been managing the situation since its onset. The cause of the fire remains unclear but is not suspected to be related to terrorist activity.
