An 80-year-old flying instructor named Ian Haggis and a 16-year-old boy, presumed to be his student, died in a light aircraft crash near Loch Lomond in Scotland on October 16, 2026. The Piper Tomahawk II aircraft, registered as GLFSU, crashed north of Drymen around 4:45 PM local time. Emergency services were immediately called to the scene but found both individuals dead upon arrival. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has been notified and is investigating the cause of the crash. Temporary airspace restrictions remain in place to allow for ongoing investigations, including preventing drone flights over the area.
