Thieves stole four Renoir paintings from the Renoir Museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France, on Tuesday morning around 6 AM local time. The museum's alarm system activated shortly after 5:48 AM, and police arrived within five minutes but did not manage to catch the thieves. The intruders had cut a hole in the garden fence with an electric tool before entering through a ground-floor window. Two of the stolen paintings were later recovered in the museum’s garden as the thieves fled; however, two remain missing — "Portrait of Madame Colonna Romano" and "Young Woman at the Well". The theft is part of a series of brazen art heists targeting valuable works across Europe since last year's high-profile Louvre jewelry theft.
