A 53-year-old man died in his Brisbane home after waiting two hours for an ambulance despite calling with chest pains. Health Minister Tim Nicholls acknowledged that the man's family only learned of his death through media reports, not official communication. The incident occurred on Saturday night when paramedics arrived too late; the man had a code 1C call which typically takes less than half an hour to respond but was delayed due to ambulance ramping issues in Queensland hospitals. A review into the matter has been ordered by QAS officials, and the family will meet with top QAS representatives on Thursday afternoon. The health minister apologized for the distress caused to the family by the lack of official notification.
