A 40-year-old man from Cooloongup, Western Australia, is scheduled to appear in court after being charged with attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child through online communication. The Australian Federal Police received a tip-off in July about someone on a messaging platform allegedly having sexually explicit conversations with what they believed was a 12-year-old girl. In early October, police executed a search warrant at the man’s home and arrested him. He now faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of using an electronic carriage service for such activity.
