On October 13, 2026, at around 8 PM near Coquelles in Pas-de-Calais, France, a minibus carrying heavy goods vehicle (HGV) drivers heading to board a Le Shuttle train collided with a stationary freight train at the loading platform of the Eurotunnel entrance. The collision resulted in 19 injuries, including the bus driver; none were life-threatening according to French authorities. Emergency services immediately responded, deploying ambulances, a helicopter, and fire engines.
The minibus was severely damaged, leading to an evacuation that briefly halted shuttle service through the tunnel for about 90 minutes before resuming gradually by late evening. Eurostar passenger trains remained unaffected throughout the incident. Local sub-prefect Agathe Cury stated that freight traffic through the tunnel was also minimally impacted.
Injured individuals included multiple nationalities, and relevant consulates were notified accordingly. The cause of the crash remains unclear as of now.
