Jorch Wong Ching-hei, who previously worked in advertising, founded The Loops Hong Kong in 2019 after noticing the inconvenience of recycling due to different collection points for various materials. With no background in waste management or technology, Wong contacted recycling operators and visited plants to learn about processing paper, plastics, and metals. He then spent approximately a year teaching himself coding online before developing an initial platform for arranging collections. The Loops uses door-to-door services and AI to streamline recycling for both households and corporate clients in Hong Kong.
