Settlers set fire to a mosque in the occupied West Bank village of Mikhmas early Wednesday, October 14, 2026, according to Palestinian sources and the Israeli military. Atta Kanaan, a local resident, reported hearing breaking glass around midnight and found the mosque ablaze; he and others managed to partially extinguish the fire before it destroyed the building's interior carpeting and blackened walls. Settlers also burned a car nearby. The Israeli military dispatched soldiers but did not identify any suspects, stating that an investigation had begun. Graffiti in Hebrew was spray-painted on the mosque’s exterior walls, including the slogan "just because we are quiet doesn’t mean we are asleep." This incident occurred amid a series of recent settler attacks on Palestinian communities and religious sites in the region.
