Multiple fires broke out in Stourbridge, West Midlands, on Thursday night, destroying 19 properties across five streets and severely damaging another 18 homes. The fires were so intense that some houses remained intact while those next to them were completely destroyed. Residents who fled the area are now starting to return home, with some discovering the extent of damage to their properties only after being allowed behind the cordon by West Midlands Fire Service on Saturday. The fire service has crews working "tactically" across several sites in the area. In total, 43 new wildfires have been reported since Friday, leaving fire services under "incredible pressure".
