The Aporia
The Aporia is an independent editorial project that collects news articles from 52 news sources (and growing). It analytically compares content from various publishers to draw connections and break down information to make the first look at a new topic clear.
Our goal is to help give you a straightforward first perspective on a new topic by giving you the information to do so rather than thinking for you. Our methodology is public and our mistakes are documented openly.
Welcome to The Aporia. :)

A California state auditor found that Malia Cohen's office deliberately stalled for over a year to recover more than $33,000 in salary overpayments from two employees, violating state law by failing to collect one employee’s debt. The audit also revealed that two managers worked remotely from Idaho, Tennessee, and Alabama despite restrictions on out-of-state telework. Across nine cases involving multiple state agencies, about $885,000 in taxpayer money was wasted or improperly spent. This investigation highlights issues of waste, mismanagement, and misuse of public funds within California's state agencies.
