The Aporia
The Aporia is an independent editorial project that collects news articles from 52 news sources (and growing). It analytically compares content from various publishers to draw connections and break down information to make the first look at a new topic clear.
Our goal is to help give you a straightforward first perspective on a new topic by giving you the information to do so rather than thinking for you. Our methodology is public and our mistakes are documented openly.

A Chinese business delegation from Heilongjiang province, which borders Russia's far east, visited the disputed Kuril Islands in early October to explore investment opportunities with Russia, according to an announcement on Tuesday. The group travelled specifically to Etorofu Island, known as Iturup by Russians, to assess potential investments in aquaculture, seafood processing, and tourism development. They showed a particular interest in cultivating sea urchins and sea cucumbers. Despite this visit, tensions remain high with Tokyo over the sovereignty of these islands.
