The Aporia
On October 11, actress Selma Blair was arrested after an incident on Delta Airlines flight 938 from Los Angeles to New York's JFK Airport, where she allegedly assaulted two flight attendants and attempted to open the plane’s door mid-flight. The Port Authority Police Department responded upon landing, taking Blair into custody and transporting her to a local hospital for evaluation. No criminal charges had been announced at the time, but the FBI is investigating the case.
Delta Airlines stated it has "zero tolerance" for unruly or unlawful behavior, prioritizing customer and crew safety. Two flight attendants reported injuries, with one needing medical attention post-incident. Blair's representative claimed she experienced a medical emergency that led to her alleged misconduct; her lawyer later said missing doses of medication and hitting her head contributed to her "severe confusion and disorientation" during the flight.
Blair, who has a history of erratic behavior including biting celebrities in the past, faces at least one federal violation for assault committed within special maritime and territorial jurisdiction. Her bail was set at $20,000 cash and $60,000 bond during arraignment in Queens Criminal Court on charges related to assaulting a cop and nurse after her arrest.
