On September 7, Chase Ryan Klinedinst drove her SUV off Coffey’s Cliff in Chattanooga, Tennessee, after allegedly drinking heavily. The vehicle plunged 20 to 25 feet onto train tracks below, landing upside down. Both of the mother's children, who were secured in car seats, survived but one child was hospitalized with a fractured forearm and bruised lungs. Police found an empty wine bottle and another unopened chilled bottle inside the SUV when they arrived at the scene. Klinedinst was reportedly aggressive toward first responders and had a strong smell of alcohol. She has been charged with driving under the influence, child neglect, child abuse and neglect, and vehicular assault, and placed on psychiatric hold after being admitted to a local hospital.
