On Monday in Austell, Georgia, a man died after falling off the Goliath rollercoaster at Six Flags Over Georgia. Witnesses reported seeing him hit parts of the ride multiple times before plummeting to his death and even appearing in a souvenir photo taken by another parkgoer. The incident led officials to evacuate riders from the Goliath four at a time, leaving some stuck on the coaster for several hours. Following this tragedy, Six Flags temporarily closed nine similar rides across six parks nationwide as an abundance of caution measure.
The Goliath ride reaches speeds up to 70 miles per hour and has a maximum height of 200 feet. Local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. In response to the incident, Six Flags issued a statement expressing deep sadness for the affected families and staff while cooperating fully with local investigations.
