Ontario is set to change parts of its northwest region to permanent daylight time starting November 1, aligning with neighbouring Manitoba. The move follows a decision by Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew last month, which eliminated the need for twice-annual clock changes and kept Manitoba on daylight time year-round. Ontario’s Indigenous Affairs Minister Greg Rickford stated there is broad support among municipalities, First Nations, and businesses for this change. This adjustment means regions west of the 90th meridian in Ontario will be one hour ahead of other Prairie provinces, similar to Manitoba's current status.
