Katie Louise Marshall, a 32-year-old mother-of-four from Newport, Gwent, died in September after suffering burns covering half her body when a paint can inside a bin bag she threw onto a garden bonfire exploded on June 26. The accident occurred at her home in Vaughan Williams Drive. She was initially treated at Grange University Hospital and later transferred to Morriston Hospital's specialist burns unit before being moved to Bristol Royal Infirmary due to respiratory failure, where she passed away on September 24 from bacterial pneumonia, inhalation injury, and flash burns. Friends and family paid tribute to her, releasing pink balloons and fireworks the day after her death. Dozens more shared messages online mourning the loss of "the most amazing mum." The inquest is scheduled to resume on June 9, 2027, at Gwent Coroner's Court.
