Johnny Marr, the 62-year-old guitarist and songwriter from The Smiths, is set to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Sky Arts Awards. The awards ceremony, co-hosted by artist Sir Grayson Perry and musician Self Esteem (Rebecca Taylor), honors British and Irish achievements in various art forms including classical music, film, and literature. Marr's recognition comes from his influential songwriting contributions to modern music, particularly through The Smiths' four acclaimed albums released between 1984 and 1987. Marr has also been active since the band's breakup with successful solo work and collaborations with artists like Gorillaz and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
