Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece since last fall, faces potential dismissal by President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio following reports alleging improper conduct and financial misconduct. A senior US official stated both leaders are “extremely pissed off” about the allegations, with a decision expected after Columbus Day on Monday.
The Wall Street Journal reported Guilfoyle asked a Trump donor to pay a $100,000 credit card bill in exchange for access to administration officials and promoted a Greek construction firm. Other reports suggest she accepted improper gifts and threatened an official. Despite these allegations, her attorneys claim Guilfoyle did nothing wrong.
Democrats on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and Senate Foreign Relations Committee have called for an investigation into Guilfoyle's conduct, adding pressure for swift action from Trump and Rubio.
