Manor Solomon, an Israeli international footballer, joined Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer in July 2023 following a FIFA ruling that allowed players from clubs affected by the Russia-Ukraine conflict to terminate their contracts immediately. However, Shakhtar Donetsk, his former club based in Ukraine, believes Solomon's market value was around €20 million (£16.9m) and threatened legal action at that time.
Recently, Shakhtar is set to reopen talks with Tottenham over compensation after Solomon moved to West Ham United this summer for an initial £5m fee. Shakhtar’s chief executive David Palkin stated they had previously agreed verbally that Tottenham would pay a portion of any future sale proceeds back to them when selling the player.
Palkin emphasized the club's intention to approach Tottenham officially with their demands and hopes to reach an amicable agreement; however, he warned they are prepared to seek intervention from intermediaries or take legal action through bodies like the European Club Association or CAS if necessary.
