The Aporia
A game-worn and autographed Michael Jordan jersey from the 1998 NBA Finals sold for a record $14 million in a private sale, announced by Pennsylvania-based Hunt Auctions on Monday. The red Chicago Bulls jersey was worn during Game 2 against the Utah Jazz on June 5, 1998, when Jordan and the Bulls evened the series at one game apiece with a victory. Miami real estate investor Ron Firman purchased the iconic piece of memorabilia, making it the highest price ever paid for basketball memorabilia and second only to Babe Ruth's $24.12 million jersey from the 1932 World Series. Jordan eventually led Chicago to their sixth NBA championship that year, completing his legendary career with the Bulls.
