In the 64-second clip, he praised Republican Senator Dave McCormick and emphasized their collaboration to preserve steel jobs in Pennsylvania, though he avoided openly praising President Trump. This controversial move has drawn criticism from fellow Democrats like Reps. Chris Deluzio and Brendan Boyle, who predict Fetterman's departure from the Senate after 2028 due to his perceived disloyalty to Democratic principles.

Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance took center stage at the same convention on its final night, delivering a nationalist message to an enthusiastic crowd. Vance positioned himself as a potential successor to President Trump and criticized Democrats for obstructing American values such as safety and prosperity. He specifically targeted those advocating against traditional family structures by declaring "Stay the hell away from our kids!" in his speech.

Additionally, Republican leaders like Senate Majority Leader John Thune decided not to make speeches at the convention, opting instead to attend fundraisers and ensure other candidates had opportunities for national exposure as Republicans push for a successful midterm election effort. The event highlighted efforts by Republicans to appeal to Hispanic voters through Mexican-American candidate appearances and messaging around economic issues and immigration policies. However, recent polls show Republican support among Latinos has dipped below 35%, complicating these outreach efforts.
