The Aporia
Abhijeet Dipke, founder of India's Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), along with two other leaders, were detained on Saturday upon their arrival in Delhi from Mumbai ahead of planned protests against the Election Commission chief. Thousands more protesters were also detained across New Delhi to prevent gatherings at the designated protest site, Jantar Mantar. Despite this crackdown, a court ordered the release of Dipke and his two colleagues on Sunday morning. The CJP accuses the election commission of misconduct during a nationwide voter roll revision, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. With opposition support, including from Rahul Gandhi, the movement vowed to continue protesting despite government efforts to suppress them.
