London's Transport for London (TfL) has agreed to install air conditioning in all of its buses by next summer, following a dispute with drivers over the sweltering temperatures inside the vehicles. The union, Unite, had argued that the current cooling systems were inadequate and only lowered temperatures by 2-3 degrees during heatwaves. Bus drivers reported suffering from heatstroke, dehydration, and fatigue due to temperatures reaching up to 50 degrees in their cabs. The agreement was reached after a dispute with TfL, which came as part of a wider campaign for better working conditions by the Unite union. All buses will be equipped with air conditioning, a move that is expected to improve the health and safety of drivers during the hot summer months.
