The Aporia
Christa Pike, who survived a failed lethal injection execution attempt by Tennessee on September 30, has been discharged from a local hospital and transferred back to the Deborah K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center in Nashville, where she had been held for over 30 years. Her attorneys stated that she is grateful for medical care provided during this "extraordinary circumstances" and will continue receiving treatment at the prison facility. Pike's case is unprecedented as no one has survived an execution attempt by lethal injection before. She was originally sentenced to death in 1995 for the beating and stabbing murder of Colleen Slemmer.
