On Saturday, October 10, a "serious incident" occurred at the tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster. Videos circulating online show a man being attacked by an Amur tiger. The park’s emergency response procedures were immediately activated, and authorities confirmed that the victim sustained serious injuries. South Yorkshire Police stated they received reports around 1:35 PM of a man entering the tiger enclosure where he was subsequently attacked.
The Yorkshire Ambulance Service responded with two land ambulances, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, and a doctor at the scene following their call at 1:33 PM. The park confirmed it would remain closed for the weekend to investigate what happened. Established in 2009, Yorkshire Wildlife Park includes a “Land of the Tigers” attraction that opened in 2011 on a two-acre reserve, dedicated to housing endangered Amur tigers, with fewer than 600 left in the wild globally.
