On Thursday afternoon at around 4pm, an ICE agent shot a person during a suspected arrest operation in the Marble Hill neighborhood of the Bronx, New York City. The victim was conscious and taken to a nearby hospital where they received medical attention; their injuries are not considered life-threatening. Videos from the scene showed several agents on the street with one armed and another restraining a man on the ground.
The NYPD confirmed federal law enforcement agents were involved but were not present at the time of the shooting, which occurred near West 225th Street and Marble Hill Avenue. A vehicle reportedly had a bullet hole in its windshield. Witnesses say there was chaos after the incident with a crowd gathered and police officers carrying someone into a car.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul called for federal authorities to provide "a full and transparent accounting of the circumstances surrounding this incident." This shooting follows previous incidents involving ICE, leading Mayor Zohran Mamdani to emphasize the need for accountability and transparency.
Wild video shows a seething crowd of anti-ICE protesters ramming NYPD officers with barricades as violent clashes erupted after federal immigration agents shot a suspected illegal migrant in The Bronx.
Among the hundreds of protesters who gathered outside NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital Thursday night was presumptive New York congresswoman Darializa Avila Chevalier — who was captured on camera yelling at the cops to “stop escalating.”
At one point, Avila-Chevalier asks a few of the demonstrators to move back on the side — before one yells out, “I voted for you.” The irate Avila-Chevalier — a DSA candidate endorsed by Mayor Zohran Mamdani — turns to the supervising cop and gets in his face as he tries to hold the barricade, yelling “stop escalating… you are escalating… you are pushing.”
