The Aporia
On Thursday, around 4pm, a person was shot during an interaction with ICE agents in the Marble Hill neighborhood of Bronx, New York City. The NYPD confirmed the shooting involved federal law enforcement but not ICE explicitly; however, multiple sources and witnesses identified the shooters as ICE agents attempting to arrest someone nearby. The victim, who is conscious, was rushed to a hospital where their condition is stable. Video from the scene showed several agents restraining a man on the ground with one agent armed. A 5-year-old child in the car at the time of the shooting reportedly was not physically harmed but held by ICE agents until someone arrived.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul called for federal authorities to provide a full and transparent account of what happened, stating that New Yorkers deserve to know exactly why this incident occurred. The shooting comes days after local officials urged property owners in Marble Hill to bar federal immigration agents from using the area as an enforcement staging point.
