Austin Reaves, a star guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, made his preseason debut on Thursday against the Sacramento Kings at Crypto.com Arena, sitting out earlier due to an ankle injury sustained during practice. Reaves, who recently re-signed with the Lakers on a four-year, $180 million contract, started alongside Luka Doncic, Quentin Grimes, Adou Thiero, and Kevon Looney.
Several key players were unavailable for the game, including 7-foot-2 center Walker Kessler, acquired from the Jazz in a sign-and-trade deal worth four years and $130 million, who jammed his finger during practice. Head coach JJ Redick confirmed that while Ziaire Williams was experiencing some soreness, it was not a significant concern.
The Lakers have two more preseason games remaining: one on Tuesday against the Golden State Warriors in Las Vegas and another on October 16 against the Denver Nuggets in Los Angeles.
