The Aporia
Judge I'Ashea Myles in Nashville ordered Tennessee officials to preserve all evidence related to the botched execution of convicted murderer Christa Pike on September 30, including drugs, syringes, medical equipment, and recordings. The order came after Pike survived two doses of pentobarbital intended to be lethal. Pike, now 50 years old, was taken unconscious but alive from Tennessee’s death chamber to a hospital where she later regained consciousness with cognitive confusion. Her lawyers argued that the evidence is crucial for any future legal challenges and stressed that Pike remains at risk of another execution attempt.
