The Aporia
Chief Constable Jon Boutcher announced that police would begin interviewing individuals suspected of violating laws related to a recent Orange Order parade decision in Drumcree, Northern Ireland. The Parades Commission had allowed the traditional route from Drumcree Church down Garvaghy Road for the first time since 1997, but protests by those opposed have prevented the parade from happening for almost two weeks. Assistant Chief Constable Davy Beck stated that police are moving to interview suspects identified through evidence collected during the operation and will send letters requesting interviews. This follows Boutcher's earlier warning of "consequences" for lawbreakers. Unionists criticized Sinn Féin ministers, including First Minister Michelle O’Neill, for their presence in the protest area, proposing no confidence motions against them.
