Nana Patekar, a veteran Indian actor known for his intense performances in both Hindi and Marathi cinema, died at the age of 75 on Thursday after being found unconscious at his home in Goa. Despite efforts to revive him, including 45 minutes of CPR at Manipal Hospital in Goa, he could not be saved. Patekar's career spanned nearly five decades, starting with his debut film Gaman in 1978 and gaining international recognition through films like Mira Nair’s Oscar-nominated Salaam Bombay! He won three National Film Awards and received the Padma Shri, one of India's highest civilian honors. Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned Patekar's death, praising his "intensity, individuality and unmistakable presence" on screen.
