The Aporia
Spanish golfer Jon Rahm will be leaving LIV Golf after his lawyer told a bankruptcy court hearing that the revised terms of LIV 2.0 are "unacceptable" for him. Rahm, one of the most prominent players to join LIV when he left the PGA Tour in December 2023 for a deal worth approximately £222m ($300m), is now seeking to end his association with the league. LIV Golf filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September after Saudi Arabia withdrew its multibillion-dollar funding, but has secured possible financing of up to $300m from BC Partners Credit to try and continue operations until at least 2027. Rahm's representatives are currently in advanced discussions with LIV Golf for a consensual separation agreement expected to be finalized by a court hearing on 5 November. Players participating in LIV Golf are owed at least $45m (£33m) and have the option to leave, while negotiations between players and the league remain open until 25 October.
