Toronto’s Rogers Stadium suffers storm damage

A severe thunderstorm swept through the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) on Wednesday, causing widespread damage, power outages, and flooding. Toronto Hydro reported that over 65,000 customers lost power at one point, but by Sunday, only about 100 people were still without electricity. The storm caused significant damage to buildings, including Rogers Stadium, which sustained "significant" damage and had to be ordered to be repaired by the City of Toronto before it could host a sold-out concert by AC/DC on September 16. Toronto Fire Services responded to over 1,000 calls in a 24-hour period, with some areas experiencing localized flooding that forced the closure of major roadways, including parts of Yonge Street and the Don Valley Parkway. The storm also caused damage to trees, utility lines, and electrical equipment, which has made restoration efforts complex. As of Sunday, about 4,500 Toronto Hydro customers were still without power, with the utility company cautioning that storm damage might affect some customers' electrical equipment.
