At least 10 people were killed and over 60 others injured when fireworks detonated during a village festival in central Mexico. The explosion occurred on Saturday night near the Nuestra Senora de la Luz church in Temascalcingo, a municipality with 66,000 residents, located about 160 kilometers (100 miles) northwest of Mexico City. The incident happened as hundreds of people were preparing to watch a fireworks display that was part of a religious festival. A video showed revellers carrying a bull made of straw, with fireworks spouting out of the effigy, when the blast occurred. Two priests were among those injured, according to a local bishop. The cause of the explosion has not been determined and an investigation has been opened by the Mexico State Attorney General's Office.
