Dan Kutcher, the former mayor of Summerside, P.E.I., is the only candidate in the running for leadership of the Liberal Party of Prince Edward Island. The nomination period closed without any other candidates, leaving Kutcher as the sole approved candidate. He had previously announced that he would not seek re-election as mayor this November, but instead opted to run in the Liberal leadership race after his resignation last month from the mayoral position he held since 2022. Kutcher has expressed interest in representing a provincial district on the eastern side of Summerside and will continue engaging with constituents ahead of the party's leadership convention on September 13.
