The Aporia
Karl-Anthony Towns, a key player for the reigning NBA-champion New York Knicks, expressed frustration over contract negotiations during a preseason game on Monday in Philadelphia. Towns, who turned 31 last month, is eligible for a four-year, $276 million deal but feels undervalued by the team's current offer of around four years at $200 million. This comes after he publicly stated his willingness to take a discount to help maintain the roster's cohesion. The Knicks, under owner James Dolan, aim to remain below the second spending apron while also considering an extension for Jalen Brunson next year. Towns is skeptical of reaching a deal before the regular season starts on October 20th and stated that negotiations are not progressing well, with no signs of resolution in sight.
