New Delhi building collapse leaves 1 dead, others trapped

At least 3 people died and dozens are feared trapped after a five-story residential building collapsed in New Delhi's Satya Niketan neighborhood, which houses mostly students. The building, known as Hostel Daze, came down around 13:30 local time (08:00 GMT) on Sunday while around 50 people were inside. At least 8 people were rescued, with 5 of them taken to a hospital in critical condition. Eyewitnesses told local media that some students trapped under the rubble were making phone calls for help. An adjacent building was evacuated as a precaution due to concerns it could also collapse. The cause of the collapse is not yet known, but there had been construction work going on in the basement of the building prior to the incident.
