The New York Liberty faced off against the red-hot Atlanta Dream in Game 1 of their best-of-five WNBA semifinal series on Sunday, losing 92-82. Despite being the No. 8 seed, New York swept the Minnesota Lynx to become the first team in league history to knock out a No. 1 seed in the playoffs. However, Atlanta's strong defensive play and forced turnovers proved decisive, with Dream player Jordin Canada scoring 25 points, including five steals. The Liberty, led by Sabrina Ionescu's 27 points and Breanna Stewart's 19, showed signs of struggle especially during a dominant third quarter where the Dream outscored them 32-15. With Game 2 coming up on Wednesday in Atlanta, the Liberty now face increased pressure to adjust their strategy against the physical and fast-paced play of the Dream.
